Struggling for Air
6 months ago, I thought I had an inkling of what my life would be like in the near future. Busy, as to be expected, stressful, as to be dreaded, but manageable, as I am quite capable. Two words: Dead wrong.
So much has happened to me in the past 6 months, some of which I can’t even logically explain nor comprehend. I’ve had a change in mindset, gotten a little discouraged and overwhelmed, and have essentially found myself struggling for air.
Yet and still, I must say things have been looking up… I think.
Optimal thinking can be a daunting task.
It’s a new year, a new day, and today I announce my reincarnated desire to swim. I’m not sure when it died, but I think a little part of my drive died with it. This year will be the year of new beginnings. I’ll be ending a long-anticipated chapter of my life this year and beginning a new journey into the life of the unknown. I’ll be graduating.
I hope to plot my trek of these last steps here, but I realize that requires a little extra diligence on my part. This blog has gone neglected since the day I decided that there were other things more important to me than myself. Another harrowing discovery of mine.
I want this year to be a year of discovery, of remembrance, of progression, and of success. I sound so cliché.
Whatever.
Hats off to a tremendously opulent and blessed year! I hope you’ll be there to see it. I hope I will be too.

After a lot of thought and consideration, I think I’ve finally decided where I want to go with this site. Considering that this is a blog, this should document my interests, beliefs, and current involvements. Furthermore, I’d like to delve deeper into my own curiosities and discover more in-depth the world around me. I’ll begin first to speak about past and present involvements; organizations and events I’ve been a part of and how they’ve affected me. From there, I’ll dive into my own interests, philosophies, and discoveries I’ve found along the way. Being that I also design web sites and am beginning to expand my work in marketing and mass communication, I’ll showcase projects, things I’ve learned, and design ideas for new ventures.
What do I hope to accomplish? Well the partly obvious is that I’ll certainly be working on my writing skills since I’ll being doing an awful lot of that. Most of all, though, I feel that as I’m getting older and more involved in the business world, I need a true online identity. One that not only focuses on myself but also how I plan to work with others and get my foot on the first rung of the ladder. I hope this blog can become more of a collaborative effort because I know that no one is successful completely by their own will. That being said, feel free to put in as much input about what’s going on here as I will participate in all active discussions and constructive criticism!

Or rather the bank of interests? Well my interests haven’t made me money…. yet.
I thought it kind of important that in getting to know me as person, you know what I’m interested in. So here is an interest bank of mine which I will try to keep rather updated and relevant:
| Computers |
Music |
| When it comes to me and computers, I think we got engaged at age 5 or so. The wedding date was about 10 years ago and we’ve been happily married ever since. On a more serious note, if it needs to be done and a computer is my only tool, I’ll make sure you’re 5000% satisfied. Even if I don’t know how to do it quite yet, I’ll either figure it out, or find some awesome program that does it for you. (: |
Pandora is probably really mad at me because I refuse to pay $36 a year for unlimited music. Instead I just take advantage of the 99 cents a month when I go over my 40 hour limit. ^.^ |
| Photography |
Social Media |
| Don’t hand me a camera because I WILL get trigger happy. There is something absolutely grand and immensely satisfying about capturing an irreplaceable moment in 12,000+ colorful pixels. |
My obsession with social media is probably rather different from most. I like social media simply because I love seeing how people interact and react with one another. How a person presents his or herself when they think no one of importance is watching is actually quite interesting. More so, it’s astonishing what a person will do to become popular and how people change drastically over time. |
| Philosophy |
People |
| My intrigue with social media is deeply fueled by my overly-philosophical thinking. It’s probably just as bad as it is good, because while I may pick apart every thought and action around me, I find myself picking out my hair too. I still believe that I will never understand people. |
Just because I don’t understand their ways doesn’t keep me from loving them! Just as my other interests though, my love is expressed a little differently. I don’t have an abundance of friends who I hang out with on a daily basis. I don’t even associate myself with any “click” or group. I hate to follow trends simply because I understand that trends are only an economical scheme and have the power to brainwash you. I will, though, talk to absolutely anybody and everybody and if you do happen to fall into the category of a friend, you’ll always have me behind you. |
| Writing |
Reading |
| There are some things, no matter how well you speak in front of others, no matter how well versed and verbally intellectual you are, that can ever be truly expressed without putting a pen to paper. Whether the paper is digital and is inked with the touch of your fingers, or you like it old-fashioned, there is infinite power in sentence structure, creative imagery, and double-entendres. |
It is, by far, absolutely impossible to have any of the aforementioned qualities without a healthy love of reading. Just so I don’t bore you, I’ll leave it at that. |
| Poetry |
Intellectual Discussion |
| The beautiful, melodic, expressive powers of poetry are absolutely unrivaled by any mere piece of “writing”. Poetry is truly an art and it takes a highly talented artist to create a masterpiece. |
There is nothing quite as tantalizing as having a million bottled up thoughts with no one to talk about them with. It’s like keeping a primitive, juicy secret. You just have to tell the world, don’t you? I think this is why Twitter is so successful. |
| Learning |
Understanding |
| I firmly believe in the expression that we “learn something new every day.” Whether it be because I finally understand the meaning behind something or I learn about a totally new and interesting topic, there is too much information and knowledge in this world to think that people will ever stop learning. Sadly, because of this, I spend more time at school than I do at home. |
Now, as any scholarly or educated person will argue, there is a vast difference between “learning” and “understanding”. Take learning to ride a bike for instance. You learn how to ride a bike when you are around 10 years old, but you understand how to ride a bike when you know the intricate relationship between balance and weight distribution. |
| Culture |
Biking |
| Culture is such a broad and general word that it shouldn’t even be one word but in fact a million words. What I love about people is that there are just so many different cultures and ways of living. I love seeing how others live; the different styles, traditions, and ways. Most of all, though, I love understanding why people live the way they do. |
This just goes to prove that I am not an over-cooped up geek with no life. Minus the fact that my bike has rust on it at the moment. |
| Swimming |
Pretending to Workout |
| Aquatic exercise is just as therapeutic and relaxing as it is taxing and exhausting. Something with that much power over the human body I would tend to call exhilarating. |
Okay, I lied. I might just fall under the “over-cooped up geek” category. |
| Boys |
Technology |
| I’m a gal and you’re a gorgeous little lad. How do you expect me to resist? ^.^ |
Favorite phone: Nexus One; Favorite Software: Firefox; Favorite Camera: Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III Digital SLR; Favorite OS: Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora); Favorite Mobile OS: Android; Favorite Laptop: Macbook Pro 15″; (<– Ironic, huh?) Enough said. |
| Texting |
Being 17 |
| Almost synonymous with Writing. Some things are just better off left unsaid. |
I mean really, what else is there to do? (: |

So I thought it would be best to first start by explaining my rather interesting educational experience. I’ve attended 3 different high schools, in 2 states and 3 counties. This was due to my mother’s job, but I don’t regret it because my exposure has made me who I am.
Here is a quick overview of the schools I’ve attended and what I focused on as far as extracurricular activities:
Mount Zion High School – Jonesboro, GA
August 2008 – May 2009 (9th Grade)
Here, my main focus was the Fine Arts Magnet Program. I auditioned at the end of 8th grade for a violinist position in their new orchestra. I thoroughly enjoyed this time, as I am passionate about music, but I realized that the amount of dedication required didn’t really match what I wanted to do in life. I’m a computer geek, and that is all.
Activities:
- Fine Arts Magnet – Orchestra, Violinist
Coppell High School – Coppell, TX
August 2009 – December 2010 (10th – 11th Grade)
Once I met with my counselor and she told me about the engineering program, I was hooked. She didn’t really have the faith in me that I could jump right into a brand new program and succeed, but oh was she wrong. By the time I left just over a year later, I had acquired 3 officer positions, participated in 5 groups/teams, and knew almost everyone in the engineering program (even if I didn’t necessarily know their names…).
Activities:
Tucker High School – Tucker, GA
January 2011 – May 2012 [expected, let's hope...] (11th – 12th Grade)
Coming in the middle of the year definitely has more cons than pros, but I think I did fairly well with this disadvantage. I am currently still a part of the engineering program as well as participating in a videography/marketing internship. My internship gives me free access to all major events, sports, banquets, and the alike so I have still been very busy and my face has gotten around pretty quick. Probably faster than I would have liked.
Activities:
Hello world!
Heyy!! So I guess I’m supposed to be doing updates and stuff here and keeping track of my life right? Well, where to begin… The purpose of this blog was to be my digital portfolio on all the things I’ve been actively involved in, major events I’ve attended, community service hours I’ve earned, etc. etc. It’s not meant to be a boasting scheme but merely for my tracking purposes and references for eventual college and job applications. I guess I kinda wanted to take that initiative to make sure I’m on track and prepared for my future. I’m pretty sure if I began to list everything I’ve done over the last few years in my high school career, I could go on for days. I’ll try and cover as much as I can remember from wayyyy back when because it really was oh so long ago. (:
